Student Licence

It is mandatory that all students have a Licence. This includes membership to our association the TAGB and student Insurance. When a student commences training a licence form is handed out, this must be completed and returned to club Instructor with fee.

Traditional Classes

In the context of Taekwondo, tradition plays a vital role in shaping the practice and philosophy of the martial art. Patterns (tul), serve as a fundamental aspect, allowing practitioners to integrate techniques and movements in a structured form,     reflecting both physical and mental discipline. Step sparring, is another traditional practice, focusing on distance management and timing while adhering to specific sequences that teach  students how to respond effectively in a controlled                 environment. Self-defence techniques emphasise practical   applications of Taekwondo's striking and blocking methods. Progression through grades indicates not only a practitioner’s skill level but also their understanding of the art’s historical context and philosophies. Each coloured belt, from white to black, symbolises the journey of growth and mastery, encouraging students to honour the traditions of Taekwondo as they advance through their training.

Sparring

Sparring in Taekwondo is a dynamic and essential component of training, offering practitioners a practical application of techniques learned in class. It not only enhances skill and reflexes but also significantly contributes to overall fitness. Through controlled sparring sessions, students engage in                    cardiovascular exercise, building endurance and strength while honing their agility and co-ordination. This hands-on                experience allows practitioners to adapt to live situations,    improving their tactical thinking and decision-making under pressure. Additionally, the camaraderie built during sparring sessions fosters a sense of community and support among martial artists, encouraging a healthy competitive spirit and mutual growth. Through TAGB we have many opportunities to   compete throughout the year across the UK and beyond.

Additional training

Squad training sessions provide an excellent opportunity for practitioners to refine their techniques, spar with peers. Engaging in squad training not only enhances individual       performance but also fosters a sense of teamwork among practitioners, creating a supportive environment that               encourages personal growth and achievement in Taekwondo.    Hosted by TAGB Scotland.

Pre Black belt training is particularly for those progressing     towards their black belt. From the red belt level, is essential for the development of both technical skills and mental resilience. These sessions often focus on advanced patterns, precision in kicks, and strategic sparring techniques, all of which are crucial in preparing for the black belt grading.  Attendance is 1 of 3 every six months, and all 3 if sitting a Black belt grading.
